Safety First

Glass can be a beautiful addition to any environment but everyone knows that glass can be dangerously sharp when it breaks. That’s why care and consideration must be used when choosing where and when to use it.

Fortunately, there are processes that can make glass suitable in most applications.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass will stay in one piece when broken. Our laminated glass can be sandblasted with your design or logo.

Available in following thicknesses:

  • 6.4mm*
  • 8.8mm
  • 10.8mm
  • 11.5mm

*6.4mm laminated glass is one of many types of glass we stock that can be cut to size while you wait.

The Benefits

  • Stays in place when broken which reduces risk of injury
  • Resistant to penetration which offers some security
  • Can be used for single or double glazing
  • Suitable for low level glazing in critical locations (see more info)
  • Offers natural ultraviolet light protection so prevents fading from sunlight
  • Conforms to the requirements of Class 2 EN 12600

Toughened Glass

Toughened glass is also referred to as “tempered.” It is a standard sheet of glass that once processed is heat treated in order to increase its strength.

Available in following thicknesses:

  • 4mm
  • 5mm
  • 6mm
  • 8mm
  • 10mm
  • 12mm
  • 15mm

Available in standard or low iron form and can be used in many applications, including single and double glazing.

The Benefits

  • Five times stronger than normal glass
  • Can be used for single or double glazing
  • Suitable for low level glazing in critical locations (see more info)
  • Conforms to the requirements of BS 6206: 1981 Class A and BS EN 12600
  • When broken it shatters into small “break safe” fragments which reduces the risk of injury
  • Heat soaking and laminating are further processes that may be necessary
